GARMENT CARE
Paying some extra attention to how you wash your clothes will not only prolong their life, but also help minimize the environmental impact. The washing instructions on the label will give you advice on how to best care for your garment. How should I wash cotton garments? For best results, machine wash cotton items, ideally inside out, on a normal wash cycle. Tumble dry on low setting. How to take care of leather garments? The best way to keep leather clean is to simply use a damp cloth and rub on the stains. Hang jackets on an even hanger, in a dry, well-ventilated closet, as often as possible to avoid the material becoming out of shape easily. Leather jackets are more prone to water stains when they’re not properly treated. Use a conditioner on areas that get dry. Also, salt can stain leather instantly, therefore, do not let salt come in contact with the garment. How should I wash Polyester garments? Most polyester garments can be easily washed in Lukewarm water. Dry the garment on a low temperature and do not expose it to direct sunlight. Certain poly-blends need to be dry cleaned,so always check the tag. What’s the process of washing denims and how frequently should I wash jeans? Unwashed jeans may take a few months to break in, which means, ideally you should not be washing your jeans until that time. Why? Jeans really do conform to our bodies and as soon as you wash them, they lose their shape. Most jeans today, however, are treated (pre-washed to achieve a faded look) and don’t need to be broken in. Therefore, you can wash faded jeans more often. You should always wash your jeans inside out and on a delicate wash cycle and remember, no matter how much efforts you make, an unwashed jeans will lose some of its colour during the first few washes. How do I tumble dry a pair of jackets? Take off removable details and do up Velcro and zip fastenings before washing. Place tennis balls in the tumble dryer when drying down garments to distribute the down evenly. The balls constantly hit the garment in the dryer and speed up the process.
